Do I Need to Become an AI to Keep Up?

As I sat in my favourite coffee shop, clutching a cappuccino like it was the last connection to reality, I couldn’t help but wonder… do I need to become an AI to stay up to date?

Everywhere I look, there’s a new tool, a new trend, or a new expert telling me that this is the thing I need to master if I want to survive online. One minute it’s all about TikTok, then it’s AI-generated content, and now everyone’s obsessed with automating everything short of brushing your teeth.

It’s enough to make your head spin.

Don’t get me wrong—I love digital tools. There’s something magical about creating a whole business from your laptop, with nothing but Wi-Fi and a decent coffee on hand. But when did the online world stop feeling like an opportunity and start feeling like a race?

Take AI, for example. It’s powerful, no doubt about it. It can help you write, design, schedule, and analyse faster than you can say ChatGPT. But here’s the thing: if we’re all leaning on AI to create content, optimise our strategies, and automate our businesses, what’s left that’s truly us?

Are we losing the human touch in the pursuit of efficiency?
Because at the heart of every successful business isn’t a tool or a trend. It’s connection. It’s you showing up as yourself—imperfect, relatable, and uniquely you—and giving people a reason to trust you.

So, here’s my take. You don’t need to master every shiny new tool or trend. You don’t need to be everywhere, do everything, or know everything. You just need to focus on what feels right for you and your audience.

The truth is, people don’t buy from businesses; they buy from people. And while AI can write a cracking headline, it can’t replace the warmth of a real conversation or the trust built through showing up authentically.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the pace of it all, take a breath. Pour yourself a coffee (or tea, no judgement). And remind yourself that you’re not a robot.
You don’t need to do it all to succeed online.

You just need to do you.
